Your questions about the Cocoa Cup 5k - answered!

In just a few weeks, we'll be stretching our limbs and heading to the starting line of the Cocoa Cup 5k, thinking of the reward of delicious hot cocoa all the way! We hope you're planning to join us!

If 5Ks aren't your style, feel free to take it easy with the one-mile family fun run. Afterwards, grab a hot cup of cocoa, enjoy DJ Natty heavy, and take the kiddos to check out the Rainbow Childcare Kid Fun Zone! Cheer for the speediest of runners during the awards ceremony, where special grand prize gift baskets will go to each overall winner and individual prizes will go to the top three finishers in each age/gender group. Of course, all 5K finishers will receive a special cocoa mug, sponsored by Parks at Nexton apartments.

All participants will receive a free drink ticket for Carolina Ale House, too. The restaurant will be opening early and will feature food specials for all participants.

The day's schedule is as follows:

7 am --- Race Day Packet pickup opens

9 am --- FREE 1-mile family fun run. All ages welcome and a special kids' finisher medal (sweatshirt not included).

9 am --- Packet pickup CLOSES

9:30 am --- 5K starts from Brown Family Park, in the heart of Nexton

There have been a lot of questions in the past few days concerning race details. We've compiled the FAQs here. If you don't see your questions answered, shoot us a message on Facebook.

Where can I pick up my packet?

You can pick up your race packet, including your bib and race sweatshirt, at Fleet Feet in Mount Pleasant on Thursday, December 15th from 10 am 7 pm or at Fleet Feet Summerville on Friday, December 16th from 10 am- 7 pm. Of course, you can also pick it up day-of when you arrive at Brown Family Park. If you registered for the family fun run and NOT the 5K, you can just arrive day-of the race -no packet needed!

Can I pick up a packet for a friend?

Absolutely! See hours and locations above.

I signed up to run, but cannot make the event. How do I change the reservation to a friend?

Please contact Kerry at Kerry@touchptcom.com

What color is this year's hoodie?

The cozy Nike hoodie is chocolate brown. Remember: only 5K registrants receive hoodies!

Is there a course map available?

Interactive map to come.

What about traffic and parking?

Arriving early will allow traffic to flow smoothly and prevent anyone from missing out on the fun, so we suggest leaving at least 30 minutes earlier than you plan (even earlier is better). If you're coming from Summerville or I-26, turning left into Nexton at Brighton Park Boulevard (as opposed to Sigma Drive), is recommended. Follow parking attendants and parking signs.

What happens in the event of inclement weather?

The Cocoa Cup will go on rain or shine.

I'm dying to know: who are this year's wonderful sponsors?

We're so glad you asked! Big thanks to the following companies for making the 2017 Cocoa Cup happen: Home Telecom, CPM Federal Credit Union, Courtyard Marriott Summerville , Berkeley Electric Cooperative, Carolina Ale House, Summerville Communications, SCE&G, Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union, Summerville Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, C.T. Lowndes & Company, Parks at Nexton, and Karst.

Can I still register to run?

Registration is now closed.
