It's been estimated that over half of today's grade-school students will end up in jobs that haven't been invented yet. It's been a groundbreaking week at Nexton! We gathered this morning, on the heels of the highly anticipated PPCP Medical Campus groundbreaking, to celebrate another new neighbor: Residence Inn by Marriott.
The 96-room, all-suite hotel is expected to open Summer of 2017 and bring with it around 30 jobs. The addition makes Nexton and the greater Summerville area all the better for doing business, participating in our fun events, or visiting family.
Shovels hit the dirt this afternoon as officials gathered to break ground on the PPCP Medical Campus here at Nexton. The 100,000 square foot Class A Medical Office Building will house primary and specialty care services, imaging, lab, and an urgent care center.
"Today’s groundbreaking proves that Palmetto Primary Care Physicians (PPCP) is committed to accommodating the needs of our dynamic and growing communities,” Dr. Brantley Arnau, President of PPCP, said.
Volvo Cars will soon be bursting with activity just a few miles north of Nexton. It’s already a beehive, as work progresses on the state-of-the-art factory. By late 2018, the 1600-acre campus will employ about 1700 people trained to produce at least 100,000 cars a year.
Meanwhile, the company is already making waves throughout the Lowcountry, as they invest time and energy becoming good neighbors.

Folks living or working (or just spending a fun day) around Nexton can now start their days fueled with the world's very best: Starbucks! The coffee giant opened their doors in early January and are now serving up grande, non-fat, extra-hot, three-shot lattes, and plenty of perfectly delicious black coffees, along with yummy fare for breakfast, lunch, and every snack-time in-between.

The one mile fun-run was a perfect way to warm up for seasoned racers, but also packed with adorable kiddos some who were impressively fast! The official 5K, executed by Fleet Feet Sports, was more than impressive to watch. More than 1500 runners left Brown Family Park, sped down Brighton Park Boulevard, and looped around Nextons signature Brighton Park. The fastest runner clocked in at 17 minutes and 19 seconds! Baker Motor Company of Charleston is bringing an automotive dealership to Nexton.
Located along I-26 and accessible from Sigma Drive, Brighton Park Boulevard and the new Nexton Parkway (opening 2017), the new Baker dealership will feature an assortment of new and pre-owned luxury auto brands. The facility will feature a 30-car showroom, food court, gourmet coffee and snack bar, outdoor entertainment and event space, children?s play area, car wash facility for all Baker clients, and multiple client lounges.

We celebrated National Ice Cream Day here at the Front Porch Info Studio on Sunday, July 17. Residents, neighbors, & friends braved the rain and stopped by for a sweet treat from Cirsea Ice Cream, a local creamery specializing in delicious, unique, handmade ice cream.
Sixteen months ago we opened Brighton Park Village with a big ambition to build a community where life felt a little more efficient. More intuitive. More helpful. More healthful.
