Community events and traditions that make Nexton, SC feel like home

There's something special about this time of year in Nexton. As the calendar fills with holiday plans, family gatherings and all the little details that make the season feel wonderfully busy, November gives us a reason to slow down and appreciate what matters most.

And while Thanksgiving may be the official season of gratitude, here in Nexton, we have plenty to be thankful for all year long.

Located in Summerville, South Carolina, Nexton is a master-planned community where neighborhood traditions, family-friendly events and everyday connections are part of what makes life here so special. From friendly competition and festive celebrations to four-legged fun, our community traditions have a way of bringing people together.

They're the events neighbors look forward to, the memories families make year after year and the little moments that turn a neighborhood into a community.

Here are a few of our favorites.

Holiday cheer on wheels: The Golf Cart Parade

There's festive, and then there's Nexton festive!

Our annual Golf Cart Parade brings out the creativity in our community as neighbors transform their golf carts into rolling holiday displays. And with as many as 200 golf carts joining the festivities, it's quite a sight to see! Think twinkling lights, colorful decorations, larger-than-life holiday displays and plenty of holiday spirit making their way through the neighborhood.

The parade ends at the Midtown Clubhouse, where the celebration continues with a festive gathering around the Christmas tree, holiday photo opportunities and sometimes even a special visit from Santa himself.

For participants, it's a chance to get creative and spread a little cheer. For spectators, it's a beloved tradition that brings families outside, neighbors together and smiles to faces of all ages.

It's a reminder that sometimes the simplest things, like waving to a neighbor from a golf cart covered in Christmas lights, can become the moments we remember most.

A sweet finish: The Nexton Cocoa Cup 5K

Some traditions are worth getting out of bed early for, especially when there's hot cocoa waiting at the finish line!

The annual Nexton Cocoa Cup 5K brings runners, walkers, families and friends together for a little exercise, a lot of encouragement and a sweet reward. Whether you're racing for a personal best, enjoying a leisurely stroll or cheering from the sidelines, it's an event that celebrates community spirit with every step.

And really, is there a better way to celebrate crossing the finish line than with a warm cup of chocolatey goodness?

Even better, registration for the next Cocoa Cup 5K is officially open! Whether you're a seasoned runner or just in it for the cocoa, now's the time to sign up and join the fun.

Making a splash: The Doggy Splash Bash

At Nexton, even our four-legged residents get their own community traditions!

When pool season comes to a close, the Doggy Splash Bash gives neighborhood pups a chance to take the plunge. And if you've ever watched a pack of excited dogs discover that the pool is officially theirs for the day, you know it's every bit as entertaining as it sounds.

There's splashing, swimming, enthusiastic tail-wagging and more than a few hilarious moments along the way.

For dog owners, it's an opportunity to connect with fellow pet lovers. For the pups, it's pure joy. And for everyone watching, it's one more reason to love living in a dog-friendly community that makes room for the whole family, paws included.

A calendar full of connection: Nexton's POA events

One of the best things about living in Nexton? You don't have to look far to find something fun to do.

Thanks to a lively calendar of events organized by Nexton's Property Owners Association (POA), neighbors have plenty of opportunities to get together throughout the year. And we're not just talking about the big annual celebrations!

Take Glow Golf, for example. This wildly popular event brings neighbors together for an evening of glowing golf balls, friendly competition and plenty of laughs. It's the kind of night where the score matters a whole lot less than the company.

Then there's the Lowcountry Boil, a celebration of good food and even better company, and the annual Fall Festival, which brings neighbors together for a little seasonal fun. Trivia nights add some friendly competition to the calendar, while monthly movie nights on the Great Lawn invite families to spread out a blanket, settle in and enjoy a film under the stars.

And the fun doesn't stop with special events. Weekly yoga and line dancing classes give residents a chance to move, mingle and make connecting with neighbors part of their regular routine.

Whether it's a big celebration or a casual weeknight gathering, these POA events make it easy to turn neighbors into friends and ordinary days into something worth looking forward to.

A neighborhood full of treats: Halloween night

There's something magical about Halloween night in Nexton. Front porches glow with jack-o'-lanterns, sidewalks fill with little ghosts and goblins, and neighbors come together for an evening of costumes, candy and community fun.

From creative decorations and clever costumes to the excitement of trick-or-treating with friends, Halloween is one of those nights when the whole neighborhood comes alive.

And while the kids may be focused on filling their candy buckets, it's the grown-ups who get to appreciate something even sweeter: familiar faces on every corner, neighbors gathered on front porches and the simple joy of making memories right outside their front doors.

It's a little spooky, a lot of fun and one more Nexton tradition worth looking forward to year after year.
