A community update: Where we are today and where we're headed
On Wednesday Nexton had the pleasure of updating our Summerville neighbors at the Chamber's Monthly Morning Power Hour. For those who weren’t able to make it to the presentation by our VP Brent Gibadlo, we’re summarizing it here!
Where we are today
Today, Nexton is emerging as the region’s third major job center. World-class companies like SCRA, Volvo, and WestRock have chosen Nexton as their home base, while retailers like Carolina Ale House and Courtyard Marriott are thriving. The 1,920 square foot Starbucks is the coffee giant like you’ve never seen them before. The custom-designed building features architecture that reflects the Nexton design vision.
Brown Family Park has been home to some of the town’s biggest and most anticipated events, like Piccolo Spoleto and the annual Cocoa Cup 5K. And Brighton Park Village is home to over a hundred families in homes built by world-class builders Saussy Burbank and Pulte Homes.
Brighton Park Village is also the location of a truly best-in-class school, Nexton Elementary. There, students are part of a 1to1 digital device initiative, meaning each student has their own digital device. It’s also the region’s only Common Sense Digital Leadership School, an award honoring commitment to teaching digital citizenship.
Earlier this year, our second village debuted with overwhelming success. North Creek is an intimate enclave tucked into the woods and creeks of Nexton and brought to you by TrueHomes.
Where we're headed
Soon, a third village will join Brighton Park and North Creek: Del Webb Nexton. The active-adult community will feature amenities like indoor and outdoor pools, pickeball and tennis courts, and so much more. The Dusty Boots tour is tomorrow, Friday, September 21st, and the village officially opens in October. Stay tuned for a grand opening celebration!
Alta Brighton Park, another residential option, broke ground this summer. The Class-A apartment community will include a pool deck and back porch with pond views, as well as a private resort-style salt water swimming pool, and parks interspersed throughout the property.
On the retail front, there’s a lot on deck! The Residence Inn will open summer of 2018 and bring with it around 30 jobs. Palmetto Primary Care Physicians’ 100,000 sf Class A Medical Office Building is well underway, and will house primary and specialty care services, imaging, labs, and an urgent care center.
Baker automotive is slated to join our growing community, as well. The new dealership will feature a 30-car showroom, food court, outdoor entertainment and event space, children’s play area and car wash facility. Harris Teeter will make shopping at Nexton extra convenient – the 76,000 sf store will be located near the intersection of Brighton Park Boulevard and Nexton Parkway.
Nexton Square is the highly anticipated 140,000 sf dining-anchored center coming to Nexton at 17A and Brighton Park Boulevard. A walkable, urban setting, it will feature a number of Charleston’s renowned restaurants such as Halls Chophouse and Taco Boy. Other outdoor dining options, retail and services will join these area favorites.
The Nexton Parkway Interchange is slated to open in early 2018 and will help attract great commercial entities to the future Nexton Town Center, bringing world-class retail and dining to the neighborhood. But the impact extends beyond Nexton: the interchange will be a main transportation artery for upper Berkeley County, and eventually connect to highway 78 in Summerville.
