Unique ways to spend the year's sweetest day: Valentine's!
All you need is love, love, love. And sometimes, you need chocolate. Or wine. Or both! And sure, flowers are always lovely to receive, too…
Sound like the love in your life? Better start getting your V-day plans together! Below, some ideas from our team for making the most of the sweetest day of the year.
Sail away, sail away, sail away
Spend the evening of February 14th aboard the Spirit of Carolina. Enjoy 3-4 delectable courses, made to order, on this moonlight cruise of Charleston harbor. Live music will set the mood. Feeling extra loving? Ask about special cruise enhancements like champagne and roses.
She/he loves you for your humor
Send her a singing telegram. For less cash than a dozen roses, four serenaders will visit your sweetheart’s home or work place and belt out a personalized tune. And it’s for a good cause: proceeds go to Ohm Radio, Charleston’s first non-profit, community-based, commercial-free radio station broadcasting music by local, independent, and legendary artists. You're funny and have a heart of gold? What’s not to love!?
For the foodie
Charleston offers no shortage of fabulous dining options, but Valentine’s should be extra special. Circa 1886 is one of the most romantic spots in Charleston, and one of the most delicious! Diners will enjoy a special six-course prix fixe dinner. This year’s menu includes delights like marble potato salad (with black truffle oil...need we say more?) and brined Wagyu flank steak. A glass of champagne is included in the price, because every phenomenal meal should be celebrated. Grab reservations now.
Recreate scenes from The Notebook
Did you know many iconic scenes from The Notebook were filmed right here in Charleston? No? Your wife does. Thanks to Harbor View Inn, you can treat her to a fun day of recreating her favorite scenes – a stop a Jeni’s Ice Cream, $100 to spend at High Cotton, a visit to the street outside The American Theater where the Noah and Allie danced and laid in the street (editor’s note: don’t recreate at rush hour, okay?). Of course, a visit to Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens is included, as it’s where scenes of Allie's family summer house were filmed. See the details.
Free cupcakes
Sometimes, an afternoon with your sweetheart and a decadent treat is all you need to say, “I’m glad I’m yours.” And we want to help. Drop by The Greeting House between 12 pm – 5 pm on Wednesday for some bubbly and a coupon for a free treat from Charleston’s own Sweet Lulu’s Bakery & Vintage Caravan. Lulu’s will be parked right outside, so you can use your coupon on the spot! Kick back in one of our parks or peruse the stunning model homes while you indulge. There’s a lot to love.
Happy Valentine’s Day, y’all!
