Nexton Announces Upcoming Pickle Bar

Summerville, S.C. – August 25, 2021 – Nexton, the most innovative and walkable community in South Carolina, announced today that The Pickle Bar, a new restaurant, retail and recreation concept that combines the growing popularity of pickleball with a bar and restaurant, is opening its first-ever location in the Summerville community. The Pickle Bar will be located on the corner of Great Lawn Drive and Brighton Park Boulevard and is scheduled to break ground in January 2022.

The Pickle Bar looks to capitalize on the fast-growing sport of pickleball, a game resembling tennis in which players use paddles to hit a plastic whiffle ball over a net. Spanning over 40,000 square feet, The Pickle Bar will feature a casual restaurant and bar with Southern-inspired cuisine, four outdoor pickleball courts, four covered pickleball courts, a game yard and a stage for live, local music and other family-friendly entertainment.

“We are excited to bring the first-ever Pickle Bar location to Nexton and the greater Summerville region,” said Pickle Bar’s co-founder Alisa Tolliver. “Our atmosphere combines the comfortable setting of a laid-back evening with friends and family along with the high-energy spirit of a pickleball game, so that there is something for everyone to enjoy.”

Upon opening in fall 2022, The Pickle Bar plans to develop weekly pickleball clinics, quarterly tournaments and a schedule of live music events as well as ongoing food and drink specials.

“At the heart of Nexton, creativity and innovation are our community’s driving forces as we look for new and inventive ways to live, work, gather and stay healthy,” said Cassie Cataline, Nexton’s marketing director. “We are excited to have The Pickle Bar join the Nexton family as we continue to promote both a socially and physically active lifestyle which is so distinctive to the Nexton brand.”

“Our team is excited to be part of such a fun restaurant and pickle ball concept. The building, courts and interior will reflect an energetic and colorful industrial design aesthetic,” said Laura Middleton, principal of The Middleton Group, the project’s architect. “We think The Pickle Bar will be a great addition to the Nexton community!”
